Report: Naftogaz Ukrainy to start gas purchases from Gazprom Mar
KIEV, Feb 7 (PRIME) -- Ukrainian energy holding Naftogaz Ukrainy plans to start purchases from Russian gas giant Gazprom in March, CEO Andrei Kobolev told newswire Unian on Wednesday.
“We have held several rounds of negotiations. We have a document which is similar to the one that will be signed. We hope to implement the decision (of the Stockholm arbitration court) in a month in terms of the purchase contract. We hope that this will give us an opportunity to start buying gas from Gazprom in March of this year,” Kobolev said.
In December 2017, the Stockholm court obliged Naftogaz Ukrainy to pay U.S. $2 billion to Gazprom for gas supplies, cut annual contracted purchases to 5 billion cubic meters and ordered the Ukrainian company to buy 4 billion cubic meters under a take-or-pay condition starting from 2018.
